Codebase & architecture audits

Architecture reviews, roadmaps, and build-vs-buy decisions grounded in your business — from people who still ship software every week.
01How we help
Every recommendation we make is one we'd be willing to implement ourselves — because often, we're the ones who will.
A senior engineer reads your code, infra, and processes — and reports what's solid, what's fragile, and what to fix first.
Buying or investing in a software company? We tell you what the codebase is actually worth before you sign.
A sequenced plan with honest numbers — what to build, in what order, and what each step really costs.
SaaS, open source, or custom build — evaluated against your requirements and budget, not vendor commissions.
Senior technical leadership on a part-time basis — for founders who need a CTO's judgment before a CTO's salary.
Code review culture, CI/CD, and delivery practices installed in your team — so the improvements outlast us.
02How an engagement runs
We start with your business goals and constraints — not your tech stack. The technology serves the plan.
Code, infrastructure, security, and team process reviewed hands-on by senior engineers.
Findings ranked by risk and cost, in plain language your board can read — with honest estimates attached.
We can hand the plan to your team, execute it ourselves, or stay on as fractional leadership. Your call.
03Deliverables
No 80-slide decks. Every engagement ends with documents your team will actually open again.
What's solid, what's fragile, and why it matters — readable by founders and boards, not just engineers.
A sequenced plan ranked by risk and business impact, so you always know what to do next.
Real ranges for each step — including the option of doing nothing, when that's the right answer.
Current state and target state, mapped clearly enough that any competent team can execute the migration.
04Questions
No. The audit is priced to stand on its own, and plenty of engagements end with your existing team executing the plan. When we do quote for implementation, it's a separate decision you make with the report already in hand.
Audits and due diligence are fixed-price with a defined deliverable and timeline. Fractional CTO work is a flat monthly retainer for an agreed number of days. No hourly meters running in the background.
Read-only access to your repository and infrastructure, plus an hour or two with the people who know the system. We sign NDAs as standard and can work under your security policies.
That's the usual setup. We're there to raise the team's ceiling, not replace it — reviews, pairing, and processes are designed so the improvements stay after we leave.
